Love Your Body

Take a moment to think about this body that was given to you.
What are the immediate thoughts that come to your mind?

The 10, 20, 30, 80 pounds that you need to loose.
The wrinkles.
The jiggles on your arms.
The gray hairs upon your head.
The pillow around your middle.
The bags under your eyes.
The beautiful feet that connect you to the Earth.
The temple that carried your baby for nine months.
The hand that held another to offer support.
The heart that radiates love.
The arms that wrap around your loved ones.

Now I'd like you to take a moment to think about everything that you care for.

Your children.
Your elders.
Your partner.
Your home.
Your pictures.
Your car.
Your computer.
Your iphone.

You care for them because you find value in them.
You care for them because you love them.

Do you love your body?
I mean do you REALLY LOVE your body?

Do you take care of your body the way you care for

Your children?
Your elders?
Your partner?
Your home?
Your pictures?
Your car?
Your computer?
Your iphone?

Do you

Love your physical body?
Love your flaws?
Love your perfections?
Love those little details that are easily overlooked?

You are of the Divine.
You are Divine.
You are perfect in the eyes of your Creator.

Are you perfect in your eyes?

How can you expect to care for your body.
To nourish your body properly.
To exercise with joy.
To dissolve the line that your ego has drawn between you and Creation...

If you don't
FULLY LOVE YOURSELF?

It's easy to be dissatisfied with your body.
To frown at the person that you see in the mirror.
Is it possible to LOVE your physical self?

I challenge you, for the next forty days,
To look in the mirror and tell yourself that you love yourself.

I challenge you, for the next forty days,
To look in the mirror and and really love yourself.
To accept every cell in your body for who you truly are,

A Divine Being.

And then just observe the change that takes place through this loving of yourself.

The Advent Conspiracy

"This time of the year brings out the best and the worst in people"

I overheard a mother in Whole Foods grumble this to her daughter recently.  It struck a chord in me. In this season that I hold so dear in my heart, so many folks are "just making it through" the Holiday.

The question is, how can we keep this Holiday Season sacred, and how can we spread the Love?

In our home, "Black Friday" is one of the most cherished days of the year.  We leave only if we have to. We hunker down and pull out the crafting supplies.  It is the first major day of our crafting season.
The month of December tends to be the closest month of the year for our family.  We love to make gifts for others, and for one another, we love to felt wool, dip candles, sew, glue, paint, mold, learn, sing, decorate.  We spend TIME as a family.

My gifts from my children last year, a hand woven scarf from my daughter
and a hand crafted bookshelf from my son.
I was introduced to the concept of The Advent Conspiracy a few years back at our wonderful Church. I encourage you to watch the following video, regardless of your spiritual beliefs.  Every year I love to watch it again, this is my favorite Christmas media.

This year, let us be the spirit of Love.  Let us share joy and happiness.  Let us make more gifts and give more time.  Let us do this during the Holiday Season, but most importantly let us carry this through into our new year.

Nourishing Your Spirit

How are you Nourishing your Spirit today?

As a homeschooling Mama of 4, I take it where I can get it.

My favorite nourishment, right now, when it is hard to escape entirely by myself?
A warm bath.
Preferably entirely alone, but even if it means a baby next to the tub, being sung to by older siblings,  just on the other side of the closed tub doors.

I can take a deep breath, relax, even if for just a moment, and nourish my spirit.
